Solar car

Last week on Friday, the solar car came to school. It had 10 batteries on the side and it has 1 seat and has a silver fern. The solar panels were on the door.

KC

In Room 1 we have been learning about being KC kids. We created certificates for each other to say how we have been KC kids. Here is a photo of our certificates which are on our wall in our class.

School Map

Last term we learnt about our school and community. As a part of our topic we created a class 3d map of our school . Here is a photo of it. If you want to see it in real life you will have to come have a look in Room 1.

3d shapes

We have been learning about 3d shapes. Here is a photo of some of the shapes we have made. We know how to find out how many corners, sides and faces the different shapes have.

Miss Skeen

We are very lucky in Room 1 to have a student teacher to work with us for 8 weeks. Her name is Miss Skeen. She has been in our class for 1 week and has helped us with lots of different learning already. We can't wait to find out what else she is going to do with us!

Swimsafe

Last week the junior syndicate went to Waterworld for Swimsafe.

At the end of morning tea time each day we started walking to Waterworld. When we got there we had to go and get changed in the changing rooms.

We had to get into 3 different groups for our swimsafe lessons. Each day we learnt different things. Some of the things we learnt were: floating on our front and back, kicking with straight legs, using freestyle arms, backstroke, breaststroke. Rocky Shore Trip

Yesterday we went on a trip to the Rocky Shore in Raglan.

We saw crabs, seaweed, rocks, shrimps, barnacles, chiton, little waves and lots of other things.

We were so excited to see all of the cool things in the rock pools.

This is what happened on our day:

Before we went to the rock pools we stopped at Manu Bay to have morning tea and go to the toilet. The ground was wet so some of us couldn't sit down to eat.

Then we got back in the bus and went to Whale Bay which is where the Rock Pools were.

When we got there Mrs Steel and Mrs Thomson went down to put the cones out so we knew where we could go. Mrs Steel slipped on a rock and hurt her face and arm.

After this we all went on the rocks and started exploring.

We were there for about 1 hour and then we got back on the bus to go and have lunch.

We had lunch at the domain near the playground. After lunch we went and played in the sand and made sandcastles.

Then we all got back into the bus and came back to school. We were all very tired.
